Robert Fulghum – Storytellers Creed

I just returned home exhausted and exhilarated from the two-day inaugural Women & Words Conference. There’s much to write about, and I’ll be posting that over the next few days. But I couldn’t wait to share this poem by Robert Fulghum, read during the closing ceremony.

The Storytellers Creed

I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge.
That myth is more potent than history.
That dreams are more powerful than facts.
That hope always triumphs over experience.
That laughter is the only cure for grief.
And I believe that love is stronger than death.
-Robert Fulghum

I am a writer.  I am a storyteller.  And this IS my creed.
